HEADSHOTS FAQ & SESSION INFO

WHAT'S YOUR HEADSHOT PHILOSOPHY?

Headshots are a collaboration between the two of us. I give you my energy and honesty, and in return I ask that you give me yours! Headshots also serve as marketing tool for your business as an actor and entrepreneur, to help others gain a sense of your energy, who you are, and what you stand for. By staying true to you, I believe you will attract the roles that best fit "your type".

HOW DO I BOOK MY SESSION?

Send me a message me on Facebook, DM me on Instagram, or email me at hi@milliegillana.com for my availability. I prefer to shoot on Mondays and Tuesdays in the morning but I’m very flexible!

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK?

For best results, please book at least 2 weeks in advance. However, I do take appointments as early as 24 hours out, just email (hi@milliegillana.com) or text me (970.373.7537) beforehand to make sure I'm free and I'll schedule you in! Please note, I do not answer my email or text messages before 8am or past 8pm. 

WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?

$150 for 2 looks, 2 retouched images. 60-120 min shooting time. $20 per additional retouch. $50 "rush fee" for a 48hr turn around time for retouching. $150-$500 for branding sessions. For custom packages or business headshots, please email me separately at hi@milliegillana.com with your inquiry. PAYMENT is due at the time of the shoot, before we start. I currently accept CASH or VENMO (If you don’t have Venmo and would like to make a deposit, please inquire about other payment options). A non-refundable $20 deposit is required to avoid session cancellations.

DO YOU OFFER GROUP DISCOUNTS or GROUP SESSIONS?

I do not offer group discounts or group sessions for actor headshots (although you may arrive together for back to back sessions!). As an actor myself, I understand the financial struggle most of us face and have priced my headshots accordingly, while still factoring in all of my business expenses. I'd also rather spend time getting to know you so I can focus on meeting your individual needs. 

WHAT IS A "LOOK"?

A "look" is a major outfit or hair/makeup change that showcases a different facet of your personality, a character, or story you'd like to tell. 

WHAT ARE "BRANDING" SESSIONS?

Branding sessions are a more in depth, creative look at your personality and preferences, ranging from portraits to full body shots. They can be used as visual aids for your website, content for your social media, put onto business cards/postcards, etc! These shoots are meant to be a fun creative collaboration. We'll explore together - feel free to bring your own props and ideas! I usually shoot in locations around Bushwick.

SHOULD I BOOK A HAIR & MAKEUP ARTIST? 

Hiring a professional make-up artist is highly encouraged. They also act as a photo assistant on set, keeping everything in line for the best possible photos, and their work drastically reduces retouch turn around time. In your search for a makeup artist, make sure they have plenty of experience with headshots! If you do not want to book a makeup artist, please bring your own makeup and I can help with makeup application.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR/BRING TO MY HEADSHOT SESSION?

Bring outfits that make you feel confident and happy. Bring outfits that you LOVE to wear frequently, and shirts you like to wear to your auditions. Don't forget to bring your basics - a black shirt, a white shirt, any solid colors you have that bring out your eyes/skin tone. Feel free to bring layers, textures, and patterns as well! 

WHERE DO SHOOTS TAKE PLACE?

Headshot sessions take place in my indoor home studio in Bushwick. I also offer outside sessions, both during the day and at night, from the months of May-October, weather permitting (no rain, above 60 degrees). After a session is booked, you will receive a confirmation with an exact location. For branding sessions, we will determine the location together, based on your required needs. 

CAN I LOOK AT MY PHOTOS DURING THE SHOOT?

It's an important part of my process to show you images as we go to help you gain an awareness of your alignment and body posture during the session. However, we will mainly focus on having fun and being "in the moment" - those are the photos you'll love most!   

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE SHOOT?

I'll go through your images and delete any unusable images. Then in about 7-10 business days after we shoot, you'll receive a link to your own headshot proofing gallery, where you can go through your images, mark your favorites, and share your private link with anyone else you would like to have view your images. They can also mark favorites, and provide you with feedback. Once you've chosen the images you would like for me to retouch for you, email/message/text me the numbers you want retouched!

DO I NEED TO GET MY IMAGES RETOUCHED?

Yes. It's helpful to remove any distractions such as pimples, stray hairs, etc, so that the viewer can stay focused on your eyes, your soul! 

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY RETOUCHED IMAGES?

After you've selected your images for retouching, turn around time is roughly 2 weeks per 2 retouched images. Time varies for additional retouched image orders. You may use external retouchers should you need images faster.

DO YOU PRINT IMAGES?

Not currently. My favorite printer is quickcolorlabnyc.com
